Turtle Town is not a breeding facility. When we agreed to take on the task of giving sanctuary to over 100 box turtles, we only had the funds for one enclosure. Their previous home was also a single enclosure which is why their numbers have grown so much. This spring, we will be separating the males and females. But there is a chance that some females will awaken from hibernation ready to lay eggs so we will likely have more babies this coming year. So far, 35 hatchlings have been released outside the enclosure. We will release all hatchlings into the wild.
